lexluther Joined: 14 Dec 2006 Posts: 22 Location: Southern KY	Posted: Sun Jan 21, 2007 1:40 pm   Post subject: Vacuum diagram for E36 325i(s) I have my engine installed and the car is running, but I cannot find the vacuumhose that runs to the fuel regulater, and as of now it isnt hooked up... does anyone have a diagram of engine vac hoses, or know where the hose connecting to the regulator originates from? _________________ 1995 BMW 325is

It looks like it will take a lot of disassembly to see the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line routing. I then checked Bentley. They show the regulator but not the vacuum routing. I would suggest listening for vacuum leaks and following the sound. I am surprised that you can get the engine to idle with the false air entering the vacuum port. I woud guess that the port will be near the ICV connection to the intake manifold. Phil

Hummm Something it wrong here. It does idle well. and runs like a bandit. But my gas mileage, rural...mostly open spaces with virtually no traffic light I am getting about 20mpg. I should be getting better. I think this vaccum problem might be part of the problem. _________________ 1995 BMW 325is

Phil's might also be like this. This vacuum line is difficult to trace. But, on a '95 325, the fuel regulator is located just under the fuel rail. lexluther Joined: 14 Dec 2006 Posts: 22 Location: Southern KY	Posted: Thu Jan 25, 2007 1:10 am   Post subject: I have seen this diagram, but ti doesnt show where it goes, i think I am gonna need more than just the regulator one anyway, I am pretty sure it plugs on the underside of the intake manifold, but I have on plugged there from somewhere else... so I have more than one in the wrong place. The car runs good, so they cant be too far off. I need to park mine beside another 325i and do some comparing. _________________ 1995 BMW 325is

gigel Joined: 12 Sep 2002 Posts: 1533 Location: Dallas/TX	Posted: Thu Jan 25, 2007 8:02 am   Post subject: Some cars get vacuum for the pressure regulator from right after the throttle plate (as soon as you open it, you get vacuum). That might be the reason the car is idling fine. If this is the case, you will not hear any hissing. What year is the car/engine?

I found a pic I took of the engine on the pickup. it still has the injectors and stuff, it shows the hose pluging into the bottom of the intake manifold. if this is the case, where does the hose thats there go?..
